Spokane County:

Institute on the Constitution

Monday, January 30, 6:45 PM
@ Shilo Inn
923 E. 3rd Ave, Spokane

A free presentation of the Institute on the Constitution, also referred to as a study on Christianity and the law of the land, will begin Monday, January 30, 6:45 PM, at the Spokane Shilo Inn. The course will run for eight weeks meeting each Monday and features materials by John Eidsmoe, author and professor of Constitutional Law, and David Barton, nationally known Christian speaker and historian.

The Institute on the Constitution began as an effort of two Christian attorneys who taught the first presentation at their law offices in Pasadena, Maryland. The two attorneys, who are brothers, recognized that Americans have grown woefully ignorant of their own country's history and heritage. Today the Institute is being presented in homes, churches and meeting halls across the country.

"Not only has American society lost its moral compass, but many well meaning patriotic Americans, Christians included, have lost their political compass", states Robert Peck, one of the event's organizers. "America's founders understood that there were certain foundational principles of good government which were necessary to maintain liberty. Today we too often compare one candidate by the other or one political party by the other and fail to judge the political issues of the day by the firm and fixed Biblical and Constitutional principles that our nation's founders understood".

The group promoting the presentation believes that many of our country's original freedoms have been lost or compromised. They hope to restore those lost freedoms by teaching the fundamental principles of civil government upon which this Constitutional Republic was founded, and by studying the original intent of the founders. They believe this restoration of freedom will require both knowledge and vigilance.

The course of study will include topics such as: A Biblical View of History, Law and Government, The Religious Beliefs of the Founding Fathers, Keys to Good Government, The Declaration of Independence, The US Constitution, The Bill of Rights, Reclaiming The Constitution and many more. The course also features a study manual with outlines for each lesson. Manuals are available for $25 each with a minimum of one per household recommended.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to call 509-891-7428 (new number from original posting) to reserve seating and study manuals. Classes begin Monday, January 30, 6:45 PM at the Shilo Inn, 923 E. 3rd Ave. Spokane. You can learn more about Institute on the Constitution at http://www.iotconline.com. external
