Seven Principles of the Constitution Party are:

  1. Life: For all human beings, from conception to natural death;
  2. Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual;
  3. Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted;
  4. Property: Each individual's right to own and steward personal property without government burden;
  5. Constitution: and Bill of Rights interpreted according to the actual intent of the Founding Fathers;
  6. States' Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government is reserved for the state and local jurisdictions;
  7. American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances.

Beware of Initiative 957

Initiative 957 is titled: The Defense of Marriage Initiative. It is deceptive advertising. According to the Initiative's website, it would change the Marriage laws in Washington State as follows: marriage would only be legal between persons capable of having children together; couples married in Washington state would have their marriage automatically annulled if they cannot prove they procreated within three years of the date of their marriage; couples married out of state would have their marriage declared "unrecognized" by the state if they could not prove procreation; it would provide a system for filing procreation certification; and it would be a criminal act to give benefits to an "unrecognized" relationship. At first I thought this was a joke, but it is a real attack upon the natural family. Read the fine print is good policy before signing any initiative petition.
